ADCO Law Launches Japan Desk: The Firm’s Commitment to Support Japan’s Trade and Investment Relations

Japan Desk 2

In order to go hand in hand with Indonesia’s ambition to actively establish partnerships with other countries, one of which is Japan, ADCO Law officially launches the Japan Desk with the appointment of Yoshiya Murase, who will fill the position of Business Advisor in the firm’s Japan Desk. The existence of the Japan Desk with a strong formation in ADCO Law further strengthens the firm’s commitment to supporting the government’s goal of encouraging long-term trade and investment relations with Japan.

As is well known, for more than 60 years, Indonesia and Japan have forged a cooperative partnership that has supported Indonesia’s infrastructure development. Based on the data from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in 2022, Japan was Indonesia’s 3rd largest trading partner, the total value of which reached USD 42 billion. During the same year, Japan was also Indonesia’s 4th largest source of investment, the value of which reached USD 3.56 billion.

The support in question is in the form of initiatives in the field of knowledge and technology to support strategic initiatives in Indonesia, particularly those related to downstream natural resources, geothermal energy initiatives, the development of electric vehicles (EV), and the food and health industries.

The presence of Yoshiya Murase as a business advisor with a series of experiences in assisting Japanese companies in doing business in Indonesia certainly adds fresh air for the firm to be able to continue to support the government’s goals in terms of long-term investment with Japan. With the firm’s experience of more than a decade working closely with governments and various associations, ADCO Law is committed to supporting Japanese companies and their entities in investing in Indonesia.

“I believe that this firm has a solid commitment to providing various integrated legal services to clients ranging from commercial transactions to corporate litigation in various industrial sectors,” said Murase. “As part of the Japan Desk, I am ready to support business actors, especially Japanese investors, in assisting them to comply with regulations and provide legal solutions to mitigate the legal risk,” he continued.

Prior to joining ADCO Law, Murase served as a consultant for automotive and manufacturing companies. Murase assisted one of the largest recruitment companies in Indonesia in the recruitment process for foreign workers and communicated with clients from various multinational companies in Japan.

“The firm’s fifteenth-year milestone in 2023 is increasingly filled with various growths and developments. The joining of ADCO Law with the Alliot Global Alliance (AGA) as a representative member in Indonesia has brought us to various global networks, including foreign investors, especially those from Japan. Today, through the presence of the Japan Working Group, we believe the formation of the ADCO Law team will be even more solid in providing legal advice in this increasingly dynamic world,” said Alta Mahandara, Partner of ADCO Law.

Over the course of more than a decade, ADCO Law has grown to understand the client’s industry and business as well as the regulatory aspects. In dealing with business dynamics, the firm provides solid and comprehensive legal advice and solutions to minimize legal and business risks.
