Merpati will not Deny the Promise

PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines (Persero) remains committed to accommodate all parties in the peace proposal so that they can be detached from the shackles of Suspension of Debt Payment Obligation (PKPU). Thus, the airline is expected to operate again.

As conveyed by the lawyer of PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines (debtor), Rizky Dwinanto, when the airline got the first chance to extend 119 days PKPU, the company will focus on pursuing Merpati Airline’s reoperation.

According to Rizky at the end of March, the company’s main objective is that Merpati Airlines can fly again. Therefore, the successful debt restructuration becomes the only way out.

This time too, Merpati does not want to disappoint its creditors by making peace proposals that can accommodate all parties.

Within 45 days of PKPU renewal, Rizky said, the company’s management will make the best substance in the peace proposal which will then be offered to the creditors.

“The debtor (Merpati) and creditors discussed this matter in the meeting and agreed on a 45-day extension, so we’re making a proposal with a good intention in order that it is in accordance with the creditor’s wishes. We do not want to hurry but to ensure that there’s a hope that Merpati can fly again,” said Rizky when contacted by Bisnis, Sunday (22/7).

Currently, he explained, the company is still exploring partners or strategic investors who are considered potential to establish cooperation with Merpati Airlines.

However, Rizky has not been willing to convey the identity of the investors before the agreement between the two parties takes place.

“We will later disclose this to the society, but now it is still in the process of exploring with this partner,” he said.
