ADCO Law’s Trade Connect Explores How Legal Strategy, Innovation, and Experience Design Are Shaping the Future of Retail

Jakarta, 14 Agustus 2025 – We were delighted to host the latest edition of Trade Connect, ADCO Law’s platform for forward-thinking dialogue on the future of retail in an increasingly digital economy.

Adolf Martua Panggabean, Partner at ADCO Law, provided essential legal insights for brands navigating this shift. He emphasized that “the need to secure trademarks for both physical and digital spaces, register under the appropriate digital classes, obtain Electronic System Provider (PSE) status, and update KBLI classifications to ensure that business licenses reflect actual operations.”

This session also featured guest speaker Joseph V. Buntaran, Executive Director of HIPPINDO, who shared strategic perspectives on how offline retail can remain relevant by evolving with the times. He emphasized the importance of creating in-store experiences that cannot be replicated online, seamlessly integrating offline and online channels, and leveraging data to deliver personalized engagement.

Another invited speaker, Dirk Boerma, Founder & Consultant at dbconsultant.asia, highlighted how physical stores can transform into experience zones that work in harmony with digital ecosystems. He discussed optimizing supply chains, adopting innovative technologies like AI and RFID, and implementing flexible location strategies. Dirk underscored how these approaches help retailers stay competitive in the face of growing e-commerce competition.

This edition of Trade Connect brought together experts from the legal, retail, and consultancy sectors to exchange ideas, foster collaboration, and help shape a more resilient and innovative retail ecosystem.
