#DiscoverADCO: Ideal Worker or Perfect Mom? Why not Both? Adinda Kartika Putri’s Journey in Managing Career and New Role as a Mother

Mother’s Day is a moment to celebrate a mother’s love and appreciate the sacrifices she makes. For Adinda Kartika Putri, Senior Associate at ADCO Law, this year’s Mother’s Day holds even more significance as she recently entered a new phase of her life as a mother. Before becoming a mother, Adinda didn’t fully understand the challenges her mother faced. Growing up as a child of a working mother, she often saw her mother as a dedicated professional and a loving mom. However, after becoming a mother, she realized how complex a mother’s role is in the family.

Adinda had time to reminisce about some unique experiences during her pregnancy, such as dealing with the “pregnancy brain,” a phenomenon where mothers-to-be often forget small things. One of the things she felt the most was the confusion that frequently made her forget the little things she would usually remember. “I can quickly and easily prepare my child’s needs, but when it comes to preparing my own needs, I often miss some things,” she said with a laugh.

This experience reminded Adinda that, just as she had seen with her mother, being a mom is no easy task. While it may be a confusing experience at first, it is part of the dynamics of being a mother. This condition is often caused by conditions triggered by hormonal changes during and after pregnancy. However, rather than feeling frustrated, Adinda embraced it with patience. “The process of becoming a mother, from pregnancy to childbirth, taught me many things, especially about being more patient, understanding, and appreciating myself,” she shared.

Adinda’s role at ADCO Law also garnered attention. As a Senior Associate and mother, she shared how she balances her career and family life. She explained that the flexibility provided by the firm where she works, ADCO Law, is a huge support to working mothers. Furthermore, Adinda recognizes the importance of having enough time for herself and her family. “Working and being a mother is a continuous process of adaptation. There are times when you must adjust to your child’s needs, but at the same time, you must also fulfill your professional responsibilities as best as you can,” she said.

Despite having to adjust to her new role as a mother, Adinda maintains her professional career at ADCO Law. For Adinda, being a mother doesn’t mean having to choose between work and family; rather, it’s about managing time wisely. “I prioritize efficiency at work. I like to finish my work properly so I can return home soon to spend time with my child. That is my priority,” she explained.

In her new journey as a mother, Adinda also shared that her mother is a significant source of inspiration who, despite sometimes having different views on some things, taught her many valuable lessons from her experiences. She shared how her mother always instilled the principle that a woman is born by nature to give birth and become a mother. This is the sentence that she holds firmly when facing the labor process and when becoming a mother. “My mother’s words motivate me to stay strong. I believe that we, as women, have the strength to face all the dynamics of childbirth,” Adinda said.

Aside from her mother, Adinda also feels her husband’s support is key to her smooth journey as a new mother. She shared how her husband is involved in caring for their child and always supports her in everything, both for work and when facing challenges as a mother. “My husband is truly amazing. I’m so grateful to have a supportive partner who is always ready to help and listen to me,” said Adinda, smiling happily.

Adinda’s journey as a new mother teaches us many valuable lessons. Sometimes, challenges come in unexpected forms, but with gratitude, patience, and support from family and partners, we can face each change head-on. As a mother, Adinda Kartika Putri inspires us all to face life with gratitude, to adapt quickly, and to strike a balance between work and family. Adinda also reminds us to “Never say never” because words are prayers. “So pray for goodness, surely goodness will happen.” This meaningful statement shows how important it is to maintain a positive attitude and have good expectations at every step of life.

On this Mother’s Day, let’s take a moment to honor every mother for giving love, strength, and resilience to face life.
